I really want to try to get back into the swing of blogging, if for nothing else than to document what’s been going on in our lives. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I blame Twitter for (my) the demise of blogging. It’s just so easy to go on there and share news. I get lazy about bringing it back to my blog, and I think sometimes I fail to realize some of my treasured blog friends aren’t on Twitter. Plus I won’t be able to look back on my tweets the way I can look back on my blog, right?
We went to Edisto for Memorial Day weekend. My mom’s boss has a gorgeous house just one block from the beach and he gives it to her two weeks out of the year. We get a huge group together (aunt, uncle, brother, SIL, niece, nephew, grandparents, friends of the family) and go down for a few days. We sit on the beach, make huge dinner, have homemade desserts, drink, and play board games. I look forward to it each year. This is my “place” – where I really feel like my soul gets quiet and finds rest.
I love seeing my brother’s family interact with Cooper. They live about an hour away, so we don’t see them as much as we would like. My nephew is 11 and is so good with Cooper. If you ask Cooper who his favorite person is, he first says “Jesus” and then he says “Justin.” He loves both his cousins!
One of our favorite Friday night activities is to pick Cooper up from daycare and head to the park. Here’s C and Daddy walking the track. Cooper loves his tricycle, and I love that I can help him steer.
This was Father’s Day 2012. My mother’s father, Cooper, my brother, and my nephew. I don’t think my brother and I look alike – what do you think?
Cooper’s favorite thing to do this summer is eat popsicles. It’s been 100+ here lately, so I let him eat a popsicle in the bathtub. He runs to the freezer and pulls one out before bath time each day.
We’ve also been taking advantage of our neighborhood pool. If you don’t already have a Puddle Jumper for your toddler, get one. It works much better than swimmies. I love Cooper’s madras swim trunks! (Yeah, his hair is crazy. His teacher occasionally gives the boys mohawks.)
We took Cooper to see his first movie a few weeks ago! Here he is posing in the lobby with the Chipmunks. (More madras!) We went to see Madagascar. He did pretty well, although the last 30 minutes of the movie he was pretty antsy.
My parents have a timeshare in Gatlinburg, TN and every summer they take 2 of their grandchildren to the mountains for a week of fun. (Since my brother has two kids, my niece & nephew alternate summers. Cooper will do the same if/when we have another child.) Here’s Cooper all packed up and ready to go. I missed him SO MUCH. I asked him “are you going to miss me, baby?” He replied “No, mama, not at all!” Ouch.
They go, go, go the entire week. Dollywood for 2 days, the water park, Wonderworks, flea markets, the aquarium… Dude was exhausted but every time my mom could get him to stop for 2 seconds and talk to me, he would say “I have fun Mama!”
He came home on Friday and has been stuck to me like glue this weekend! All morning long he keeps running up to me saying “I missed you, Mom!” and “I love you, Mom!” LOVE THIS BOY.
What’s new with you?
