2 On Tuesday: Halloween

Hey friends! Happy 2 On Tuesday! Rabbit Rabbit!

Today’s topic is:

Tell me your 2 favorite Halloween costumes! Did you celebrate Halloween this year?

RaggedyAnne

My mom made my costumes when I was younger. This is definitely one of my favorites! I was Raggedy Anne and my cousin was Andy.

Jason and I dressed up for a Halloween party on base a few years ago. I was a 50’s girl and he was Napoleon Dynamite.

Of course I dress the boys up, too! This was the year they were crabs.

I don’t have the pictures downloaded from this Halloween yet (they are on my “big girl” camera) but I’ll be sharing them soon. Cooper was the cutest Elmo you have ever seen!

Can I just get up on my soap box for a second? When did Halloween become so slutty? I swear every girl costume I’ve seen is inappropriate. Even little girl costumes are too short and tight in my opinion. We went to Trunk or Treat at church this year, and I can’t tell you how many costumes I saw that revealed way too much. One teenage girl had on a dress so short you could see her butt, and knee high socks that I’m guessing was meant to draw attention to her lack of undies. AT CHURCH. Halloween is NOT an excuse to slut yourself up, ladies. There is a time and place, and that is not a holiday meant for children.

Now I’ll climb down from my soapbox. Smile

Next week’s topic is:

Share two items (or more, who am I kidding?) from your holiday wish list.

Please link up your Halloween posts! I can’t wait to see your costumes!

Cute pictures. I didn't join in today. I just can't come up with anything to show. Have a great day.

Though Halloween is not traditionally a holiday meant for children (despite that it has evolved into a time for trick or treating, that's not what it began as) - I completely 100% agree with your soapbox! I can not stand the slutty outfits!

Though the teenage boy (who came to my door w/ a group of his friends) dressed as a girl - cute wig, booty shorts and all - was awesome.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE making my own costume! (Or having my mom do it. Still. Whatev.) First, because I can't buy a costume that doesn't show my ass. Second, I don't want to be wearing the same ass-revealing costume as everyone else. It's fun to be creative and unique! I can still do something cute and girly without showing too much or having someone else show up in the same costume!

Cannot wait to see Cooper's pics!!

I love the Raggedy Ann costume, I told my husband that I want our youngest to be that next year. I agree about the slutty costumes, I saw a teenage boy about 16-18 wearing boxer briefs and a bow tie as his costume. I was appalled my nine year old asked me where his clothes were. I also live in the Indiana, and it was not warm enough to be out with nothing on.

For several years in a row, I had to dress up in a costume that I really had no idea what I was supposed to be. I guess some kind of monster. I remember wearing it to school and some kid saying my costume was ugly, just like me. I refused to wear it after that.

My cousin posted pictures on fb of her dressed as a slutty Ninja Turtle for Halloween. It was disturbing. Costumes like that belong at parties in college and nowhere else.

Okay so I didn't celebrate Halloween a lot when I was younger but I did dress up like Raggedy Ann one time!! In fact I have life sized dolls and I just used their clothes;)

We never really celebrated Halloween when I was growing up. So my sister and I only owned two costumes, a witch and cookie monster, which we would wear in alternating years. I was always so embarrassed to wear the cookie monster costume, because it was a "boys" costume. Looking back at the pictures now, its actually pretty cute.

I totally agree with you on the slutty halloween comment. I see girls wearing lingerie out as costumes. I have even seen costumes at babies r us that look like lingerie. Like a corset top for a lady bug costume.
