Happy Monday, friends! This week I am hosting Friend Makin’ Monday for my lovely bloggy friend, Kenz at All The Weigh.
What is Friend Makin’ Monday? Well, it is a linky party/blog hop that was created to help bloggers make new friends. Anyone is welcome to participate! If you’d like to participate, simply write a blog post on the topic below. Come back to my blog and link back to your specific blog post using MckLinky. After you link up, visit the other blogs participating to say hello. Other bloggers will then visit your blog and leave you comments! It’s a win/win for everyone!
Disclaimer: Please link to your specific blog post, NOT your blog. Please only link up if you participate in FMM. All other links will be deleted.
Today’s topic is:
What are your holiday traditions?
What holidays traditions did you have as a child? Did your family do anything specific or special during the holiday season (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter – any holiday!)? What traditions would you like to implement with your own family or your future family?
Halloween
Growing up, my mom made all my Halloween costumes. What a labor of love! I don’t have the mad skills that my mother does, but I hope that picking out costumes will become a fun family event for Cooper as he gets older. This year we went to the pumpkin patch so I’d like to continue that every year as well!
Thanksgiving
My mom did something pretty unique when I was growing up. She got tired of fighting over who spent what holiday where, so she brought together my dad’s side of the family and her side of the family to celebrate Thanksgiving together. Every year both sides of my family come together to eat Thanksgiving dinner. It is so wonderful to have everyone in one room!
I haven’t really decided what exactly we will do, but I’d like to do some sort of gratitude tree/board/advent calendar with Cooper. If you do something similar, share in the comments! I need some ideas!
Christmas
Growing up, I got to open one present on Christmas Eve. It was always a pair of pajamas from Santa. My parents also got myself and my brother one new ornament for the Christmas tree each year. I will continue these traditions with Cooper.
When I was little, I would bake and decorate sugar cookies with my aunt. It is such a special memory! Baking for others is one of my favorite activities of the season.
I’m planning on reading Cooper The Night Before Christmas and the story of Jesus's birth every Christmas Eve.
How about you? What are your traditions?
Thanks for stopping by, and if you are new here I hope you will return soon! Happy Monday!

We always got to open a gift on Christmas Eve too...still do. :)
Thanks for hosting this week! You're the best! :)
Funny, we did the gift on Christmas Eve too, just took the edge off and helped us sleep better, LOL!
Thanks for hosting this week and what a great topic!
Your costume is pretty rad!
I love that Raggedy Ann costume!
My family didn't really have any traditions when I was growing up except that we would go look at Christmas lights on Christmas Eve. Oh, and we were nice to each other on Christmas day. I'm calling that a tradition because we weren't very nice to each other the rest of the year. lol
Awww.... I love the Raggedy Ann costume! Did your mom make the wig too? That's really cute! How fun to have both sides of your family at your mom's house for Thanksgiving! I can't wait to see Cooper experiencing all your cute Christmas traditions this year!
I let the girls open one gift on Christmas Eve and it's always jammies, you got to look cute for Christmas morning pictures! They put them on right away and we read Twas The Night Before Christmas in front of the fireplace. I used to read to them, then Honey read to us and now they take turns reading to me.
I hope they continue this tradition with their children one day!
I had very similar traditions at Christmas as you did growing up. Thanks for hosting FMM. I've missed participating it! I am going to try to get a post up before I go to bed!!
:)

Sorry, my link is posted twice! The first one is to my general blog...the second is to the specific post!
I love your little raggedy-ann costume...how cute! Making costumes is always fun, and we always made our own, too!
I tried to start a Christmas tradition of having a Christmas eve Open House, where family and friends could come over and eat my baking (I bake like a fiend over the holidays). Unfortunately, the day before Christmas doesn't work for everyone...*pout* So it will be the weekend before this year!
Thank you for Friend Makin' Monday! I think it's a great idea! I also like the idea of reading the story of Jesus' birth every Christmas Eve; it helps the kids remember what Christmas is truly about!
It sounds like you’ve had and will continue to carry on some great family traditions. What your mom did for Thanksgiving sounds really special. I love the old school Halloween pic of you. Too adorable! Baking is also one of my favorite things to do around the holidays.
I have very fond memories of Christmas Eve parties at my house followed by Christmas morning opening gifts and then the family coming over for breakfast and later heading to my aunt and uncle’s for a family Christmas dinner.
