All About Scarves & a GIVEAWAY!

If you are like me, when you hear the word “scarf” a few different words might come to mind: cold. winter. coat. Imagine my amazement when I put on my observation goggles and started to notice that people were no longer wearing scarves for warmth – they were wearing them as accessories!

Lauren_conrad_scarf

Well, readers, I love me a good accessory. Earrings? The bigger the better. Necklaces? Only the most chunky and ornate will do. Sunglasses? Jackie-O style, please.

Scarves? Well, this was new to me, but I quickly jumped on the bandwagon. What’s not to love? They’re colorful. They’re available everywhere. Best of all – they always fit. You can never get too fat for a scarf.

Don’t take my word for it, though. Celebrities are all about scarves. Check it out:

the-scarf-is-the-new-bag-415x275Katie is really thinking “Man, I love my scarf. It totally hides the fact that vampire Tom bit my neck last night.”

6a00d8341c873353ef00e553e1f32e8834-800wiHave you ever noticed that Jessica never smiles in pictures? She smirks. She’s smirking here, knowing she looks adorable in her pink and white scarf.

Scarves are sold everywhere. Wal-Mart, Target, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Wet Seal, Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, and Claire’s are just a few of my favorite places to look for scarves. I find them very affordable… at the places I listed above, I’ve never paid more than $15 for a scarf. Don’t forget Goodwill – that place is a treasure trove for silk scarves.

There are tons of ways to wear a scarf. Wear a solid color scarf with an outfit that has multiple colors. Use a patterned scarf to punch up a solid colored t-shirt or tank. Wear your scarf as a pashmina. Tie it around your neck like a kerchief. Knot it around your neck like a ascot.

Hey girl...I LOVE scarves, they are my favorite accessory. Except not the Bret Michaels way. haha.

I'm new to your blog, I found you through Gabby, She Wrote (my sis), and I love it! Following for sure! xo

Cos I'm in Oz I can't enter the giveaway but can I just say how much I LOVE scarves? But I need a tutorial in tying them. I can NEVER pull it off!

Hmmmm, I love them all, but I think I want to win the red one most. I wear scarves almost everyday...it's perfect for the weather we've been having in NY because while the sun is out during the day it's cool at night...plus they just make me feel so awesome.
I don't have a red one...and I think it would be fun to see how I could use it. :)
Yay for contests too, by the way!

Hi Andrea!
How fun and what a great idea! I love it!!! I also love scarves. In fact, I bought one today I found on clearance. Yours are so cute. I think I would pick the red one, but they are all fabulous!

You are awesome!

XOXO

I've never worn anything but one of those hand-knitted ugly things during winter as a child. I wouldn't know how to wear one! That being said, I really like the brown print one. Prettay!!!!!!

Maybe I could wear it like a nun's habit on a bad (everyday) hair day?

Justine :o )

Justine said...

Here's my question:

Have you come to a decision on the whole baby, thing, or have you and hubby put it on hold until you're completely ready?

Justine :o )

Oooh I love scarfs too! Can you still wear them in the summer? Is that a fashion faux pas...?

Amy said...

Oh I love this post. I like the last scarf. It is so fancy and cute. I do not have one like it. I have already left you a question to answer. I am not sure if I left you a comment on your other post. I say Thanks to you for showing me a different way to use a scarf. I never thought to attach it to my purse. I would so attach that last scarf to my purse. Have a great day. Thanks for having a fun giveaway.

omg scarves are so my new thing too! They are adorable. I think they look soooo cute with tank tops for summer, even though that obviously seems like a contridiction. I love the leopard print one most. =)

I'd like the first or third scarf.

Third I'd wear in my hair and on my purse.

First I'd wear wrapped around my neck.

Jules said...

I too have a divine love for scarves. Like you said, a solid scarf can tone down a wild print and vice versa. I really like to tie them different ways and I even put them on my purses. I just got on the scarf bandwagon this year.

I would have to choose the pink and blue silk scarf because it is perfect for summer. I would wear this as a head scarf at the pool/beach or wear it around my neck with a white tank top and jeans/capris with some cute neutral sandals.

scarves are my BFF's! I love the last one and WANT IT!!!!!!
ok question: hmmmmm, ok here goes: do you prefer wearing flats or heels?

April said...

I think Bret wears the scarves to cover up his bad hair extensions.....or baldness!

I love them all and I really need to win!

Carrie said...

I love scarves too the last one is great!

Rebecca Jo said...

I love the first one - the solid red... that would go with everything!!! What a fun giveaway!

I jumped on the scarf bandwagon last year and I know I have over a dozen. I wear them all the time, even in the summer. They are a fun way to add a new color and keep you warm when you end up shivering in the pew at church (this happens to me every Sunday!)

I don't own any silk scarves because I haven't quite figured out how to 'work' them. But I love that pink and navy blue one!

Christina said...

Bret is looking rough he was so cute back in the day! Loving the leoprd print!

J.J. said...

I need people like you in my life to remind me to wear pretty things like that!!!! I love the last scarf on YOU!!!! I would probably pick the pink or the animal print. I have blonde haie and I am conflicted about which would be better!

I would totally love to win a cool scarf to "hip" me up a bit...hee hee

Sarah said...

I think the animal print one would be fab! to have for the summer! I might need to just tie it around my waist if I make that cake from your last post!

sunchicka said...

I love the pink scarf. I'd wear it paired w/a simple Black T, skinny jeans and ballet flats.

Kasey said...

Love, Love, Love the red one! I so think I could pull it off! So you need to pick me! and the cake below looks better than sex for sure, but is it really better?! If so I'm in!

Ashley said...

I want the red one! I would wear it just like Lauren Conrad!

I absolutely love scarves and pashminas, especially in the winter!

Wanted to pop in and say hello. I know I haven't been by in ages. The kitchen remodel has literally been sucking the life out of me. See...there it goes.

Will try to stop in more often. I miss your bloggy self !

Shannon said...

I'd probably pick the red one cuz that' sone of my favorite colors, and if it looked stupid on my head, I could use it as a table runner!

Vivienne said...

Skank Magnet Scarf! (Can't we try for one of those in a giveaway!?)
I was howling over that one.

I think I'd be all about the leopard print... simply because I don't usually wear any. Therefore, a change would do me good.
:)
(And I left a loooong TMI baby comment too)

Stephanie said...

I would love the first scarf. I think I would use it to make my diaper bag look a little more spiffy.

Jill said...

WhooHooo... FUN. I like the leopard scarf. Since it's already SOOOO hot in Texas and I felt like fainting today, I think I would wear it as a hair accessory! Super cute with a hot pink top.

Today I got a mani and pedi. My polish was called "My Chihuahua Bites." Do you have a bottle, it's OPI?

momma said...

you make those scarves look great!!! i'd have to pick the pink and black. i would need lessons from you on how to wear it - as i was told today by a teenager that i am "out of style." UGH!!! that's good for the ego!!

seriously, i would most likely wear it looped around my neck, as you are doing in the photo :)

LG said...

Oh I love the pink and navy one! I generally wear scarves that length like nicole richie style just hanging down on both sides!

Michaela said...

Ohhhh!!! I'm gonna have to go and dig through my closet to find the scarves I wore back in Germany!!! Yay they're back (or here... whatever!) I like animal print... every girl needs a "wild" side. (okay that sounded cooler in my head!)

Cheri said...

Have fun with this giveaway!! I'm not a scarf wearer, but those are really pretty.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

We love scarves, I have my daughters hooked on them. I'm loving the leopard one and the pink one, we either wear them on our waist, our necks, depending on the outfit, the leopard would look great with black I think, and the pink well that could basically go with anything. We also love ballet flat shoes so those would be worn with it :)

Stephanie said...

I too love scarves! And love a giveaway.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Glad to have you over to visit my guest room.

I see you are a Navy wife. I know that is such a sacrifice at times. Thank you!

Hey girl. I want to 1st one. The red one!! I would wear it with a black t-shirt and jeans with some red flats. :) I LOVE scarves but I need to buy more. A girl that work with me is wearing one everyday...seriously. I think you can become attached. :) ~Kim

I don't wear scarves because I have a no-neck. For the same reason I cannot wear dangly earrings. They end up sitting on my collarbones, ANNOYING me. I think J.C. needs a scarf. He has a beee-ew-tiful neck.

Aubrey said...

This is a trend I am TOTALLY loving right now. I found the greatest, white cotton scarf at Wal-Mart for $5!

I would love to win the leopard print one. ROWRRRR! I'd wear it as a skank magnet! LOL You cracked me up! Honestly though, I'd wear it right around my neck. I think it looks FAB that way!

Jen said...

Confession time: I'm scared of wearing scarves. I worry that I won't tie them right and will look like a dork. So I guess I'm a scarf virgin. If I won, I would choose the pink one.

New Girl on Post said...

I LOVE the last scarf! I'm already imagining ways I could wear it. The Italians here love to wear scarfs too...although they are still wearing them with heavy coats. Go figure!

Kim said...

I love that animal print one and I have just the top I would wear it with. but can you wear them with jeans?????

I love scarves but what I really love about scarves are knitting them! I am new to knitting so scarves are the best because they are easy! I am learning to knit a spiral scarf! They are so fun and talk about a great accessory!! I love the Red one because red is one of my favorite colors!

Jen said...

I left you a comment AND an email about your babies on the brain post!

I'm just now getting into scarves, but I love the silk looking one. I would wear it with my white shirt and navy capris to brighten it up a little. If you could give me some pointers in tying it, that would be fabulous! Have a terrific day!

Shawn said...

I've missed so much but I have officially read all that I've missed!

I love a good scarf as much as the next sassy fashionista but I have to admit I feel somewhat foolish wearing one in the heat of Florida!

Taunya said...

I'd love a new scarf. I've been trying to cover up a new scar I got from thyroid surgery six weeks ago. So a scarf would be perfect. But who couldn't use a Target gift card??
Pick me!! Pick me!!

Awesome giveaway, Andrea!! I love scarves too. They were my favorite things to wear during the winter and I've carried them right on into spring. Love 'em!! I would LOVE to win the red one. It's cute and I don't have one that color. My question for you is what kind of undies do you prefer (for yourself ;))? It's been the hot topic around the office (I know, we get a little personal) so I thought I would ask you. Do you stick to one kind or do you prefer different kinds w/ different types of clothes...do you ever go commando?

Sarah@VintageChic said...

I would choose the pink patterned scarf! So cute! I'd proabbly tie it to my purse... I always feel like scarves look weird on me. I've tried them as a headband but they never stay on my head. Oh, well.
