Happy Monday, everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was wonderful. My BFF, Angel, came to visit on Friday evening. On Saturday, the husband and I headed to Columbia, SC for my nephew’s softball game and my niece’s birthday party. On Sunday, I hit up Sam’s Club and did some outlet shopping.
Are you wondering who the winners of the Pay It Forward challenge are? Well, wonder no more! I decided to choose four instead of three, and two are people who are hosting or have already hosted the challenge. If you have already hosted, no need to host again – just wait for your surprise!
The “winners” are:
- Jules from Chic & Pink
- Abby from Neinast
- Shawn from Seriously
- Sweet Nothings
Girls, please email your address to andrearhouse at yahoo dot com.
Now, on to Friend Makin’ Monday, hosted by Kasey at All That Is Good! This week’s topic is courtesy of Outside My Kitchen Window.
5 Senses Tag
List four things you like and one things you do not like from each category: smell, touch, sound, taste, & sight.
Smell:
- Coffee. Starbucks is heaven for me.
- Freshly bathed babies smell so good! There is just something about that smell of baby powder and lotion.
- I love vanilla, coconut, sandalwood, and amber scents.
- Freshly cut grass.
** I do not love the scent of rotten broccoli. It is the worst smell imaginable.
Touch
- JC’s fur is so incredibly soft.
- Freshly laundered sheets feel so good against freshly shaven legs.
- I love the feeling of warm, dry beach sand sifting through your fingers.
- I also love to dig my toes into wet beach sand.
** While I love George, his fur is oddly coarse and scratchy.
Sound:
- JC “talking”
- My niece and nephew laughing – great, big belly laughs
- My husband’s voice after a long deployment
- White noise – preferably a fan set to high
**People coughing up phlegm – it makes me vomit. Seriously.
Taste:
- Chocolate chip cookies
- Homemade macaroni and cheese
- Strawberries
- Cheese – pretty much any type.
**Spoiled milk. You should always smell before you drink.
Sight
- Jason’s submarine pulling into port after a deployment. I can’t really describe the feeling of knowing your husband is home safe at last.
- Seeing the “Welcome to South Carolina” sign as we drove across the country during our move from WA to SC. I was so glad to be home!
- I love the water – the beach in particular, but any body of water is beautiful to me.
- Sunny days make me so happy. I love when the sky is blue, the grass is green, and the flowers are blooming!
**As much as I love seeing the sub come home, I hate seeing it leave. A lot of wives would go and watch the boat pull away, but I never could. It was too sad for me.
How about you? I’d love to see your answers, so let me know if you decide to participate.

Great post! Your dog is so stinkin' cute!!!
I haven't been here in awhile, I've got some reading to do!
i love the water too!
i wanna move to the beach!
How fun is this list...
the sound of coughing up phlegm... yeah, I'm gagging myself right now thinking about that!
I put rotton milk on mine too...over here it is one of the Zulu staples, they call it Mass and have it with just about anything.....SICK!!!!
This looks like so much fun. I will do this after nap time.
those cookies look so good! I want one super bad right now! and speaking of smelling milk...my husband always makes me smell and taste it for him before he will drink it. Is that cruel or what?
Thanks for the tag! What fun that was!! :~D
I tried to think outside the box and not steal your answers, haha... yours were so good.
Cuuute puppies! (And yes, the road to hell is paved with cheese!)
:)
When I get home today for sure I will participate.
I think all military wives/husbands are strong when they have to see their spouse go. I don't think I could be as strong.
I ditto on Starbucks. Even when I go through the drive-thru I love when they open the window. I usually take a big whiff.
Love your list and I have to say my hearts breaks at just the thought of you having to watch your husband leave and then it changes to a happy break, does that make sense?, as I can only imagine what you must feel like it comes he returns home!
Thanks for being a military wife!
I'm doing the Pay It Forward now, I was afraid of not getting in on ours. I'll wait a bit and do it again because it's going to be such fun!
~ ahhh the joy of getting something good in the mail!
I am from Columbia and yes spoiled milk is so gross. Nice to meet you.
Hi! The title of your blog grabbed me! I found you off LoveMy2Dogs :)
I own a neurotic Chihuahua who does bite! (sometimes) (when our guests least expect it) (well, he really snaps at them, not so much bites them, so to speak) Anyway, who did your blog design? I'm just now trying to make a presence in this blog-world, but I hate the generic layouts from blogger. Your layout really appeals to me! Way to go :)
I feel the same about the sub. Same boat, two very different feelings.
Your comments about your sweetie choked me up. Words can't express my gratitude.
I love the smell of fresh cut grass too! But coffee smell makes me gag!
Sand between my toes is a delightful feeling...dry or wet!
I hope you have a wonderful week!
I like your list. I'm passing on a Tag I received. Please stop by and pick it up when you can.
:)
Great list! I love the smell of laundry and cookies and coffee...yum!!

did you catch "daisy of love" last night?

I just adore your puppy pictures!
I think homemade m&c is the best thing ever.
And I can't imagine Ben leaving like that. You're stronger than I am!
That video of JC was so cute- glad you linked us to it!!
And I love homemade mac & cheese- sounds good for dinner actually!!
I hope you have a great week!

Hey,
Another strawberry lover! Yumm! I think we all love the sheets! Loved all your 'touch' category!
Hope you have a great week!
Love the lists! Clean sheets are the best...smell and feel sooo good! Love the ocean, just don't live close to one, at all! Love to visit though!
The thought of your hubby leaving and coming home, so sweet! Made me cry! That would be hard!! All you military wives are amazing! I am grateful to your guys and to you!
Have a wonderful night!
Tanielle
Great job!! Visiting from Kasey's......I'm new at the FMM thing.
We have clean sheets plus shaved legs thing in common! Totally agree about the phlegm thing....I totally should have put that! It makes me gag every single time!
So excited that I won this giveaway because I just think that you're so crafy and talented! I will email you my info :)
I love this post and couldn't agree more with the following:
Scent: Starbucks coffee, freshly bathed babies, vanilla. I'd also like to add puppy breath. Some people think it's gross, but I just love it.
Touch: Chase and Mandy's fur. So silky and soft. Fresh shaven legs on clean sheets. Love that!
Taste: Cheese!
Sight: The water and the beach.
hey girl. the kids are sleeping and i had a few mins. so i headed right over here to catch up some and show you some comment love!! :)
and speaking of "love" i LOVE this list... great idea to do the five senses and what you like and one thing that you don't. I love your list. it is great and I agree with all. except for the sub stuff... i agree but haven't ever personally btdt so it's diff for me. but i can only imagine how hard it must be so think about watching it leave and how great it must be to see it come HOME!!
i'd love to do this list, but i'm off to pay some LOVE to the people on my list... I've been a major slacker!! :( ugh. so I have to make up for some lost time.
hope all is well with you and the fam.
xoxoxo
lots of love!
LOVED reading your list, and the picture of those cookies is making me hungry! I listed spoiled milk under yucky smells -- can't imagine tasting it! :-) YUCK!
I love the smell of coffee too, but when I worked at Starbucks it got annoying. I also made mac and cheese yesterday...I should have had you over!
Wow, the sub pulled at my heart strings....
You came up with some good ideas on this list too, but I'm not surprised...
Fresh sheets with fresh legs...Ahhhh, makes me tired just thinking about it.
Great post! Cute pics, too. I always smell my milk now after not doing so when i was younger and taking a big sip. Ewwww!
Oh I'm so excited I won!! I'll email you this afternoon! Sorry I'm so late getting around! I've taken a bit of a break from blogging this week.
