Andrea and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day...

Alexander ain't got nothing on me. Today I'm full of angst.

Angst: a feeling of dread, anxiety, or anguish.
Isn't that a great word? There are never enough opportunities to use the word angst, unless you are a writer for Gossip Girl. And even then, you aren't really using the word as much as you are embodying the definition in your script writing.

In case you haven't discovered the not-so-secret truth about me.... well, I'm a drama queen. Actually, I'm a Drama Queen. The levels of my drama really call out for capital levels. Tonight was a good example: as I burned my leg for the 55th time with a piping hot glob of hot glue, I whined repeatedly "oh, it hurts. IT HURTS! I'll be scarred, husband, scarred for LIFE!" And it did, but not that bad. I just like to be dramatic. Angsty, if you will. Somewhere in the world, my mother is reading this and nodding.

Remember me posting yesterday about this super cute little black dress from Target? Well, I went to the store today to try it on. Dear goodness me, it was not pretty. You know how sports bras just kind of push your breasts together, forming the ever so attractive uniboob, and then on top of that, mash the whole package flat? Yeah - picture that, but in a dress. First I tried it in the size I normally wear, and while it fit in the waist and hips, it smashed my boobies flatter than pancakes. I had side boobage: the top was so tight, my breasts were trying to escape via my armpits. It was not pretty. It hurt my ego a little, but I went up and size and I'll be darned if I couldn't get the next size down over my chest. So I went yet another size up, and this one fit exactly like the first. It was a struggle to even get it over my chest, and once it was on it was on I was one deep breath away from the dress being a pile of threads. TWO SIZES UP! Are you kidding me?

I ended up purchasing this dress, which is much flattering to the girls, and doesn't make me feel like I must move around like a wooden toy soldier the entire time I wear it. What you can't really tell from the picture is that the vertical sash is a silvery gray, which pairs well with the jewelry I chose and the shoes below.

I'm pairing it with these shoes (see above). I'm dragging the husband to The Nutcracker this weekend and this will be my ensemble. I also lucked into these shoes (see below), which were on sale for $11. Score! In case you are counting, that makes 6 pairs of shoes that I've purchased in the past two weeks. I have an addition.

Moving on to the angsty part of my day: in addition to being completely demoralized by my Target dress shopping escapades, I also managed to burn my hand and leg while making a wreath tonight. It isn't pretty, y'all. I'm convinced my hot glue gun will be the death of me. It hates me. It is punishing me for something. Perhaps it is angry because I used floral wire instead of hot glue on my Halloween wreath? Who knows.

But by far, the worst part of my night came just a few short minutes ago. See, I spent the better part of two hours making a peppermint candy wreath for my office door. It was super cute and completely fabulous, until the incident. When the wreath was complete, I got up to take it outside to spray it with sealant. I sat the wreath on the edge of my kitchen table while I picked up the sealant spray, and I watched in horror as it tumbled to the floor and shattered.

I just can't win. I swear, it is my hot glue gun. It hates me, and I'm convinced it is conspiring against me. Save me, readers. I think I need an intervention.

Oh my goodness! I am SO sorry!! I hate it when those days are upon us!

And i think we need to perform an exorcism on the glue gun. Maybe we just need to schmooze it or something. Maybe it needs a night on the town to unwind. hahahahahaha

I really hope tomorrow is better for you!

And when i think of the word Angst....I think of the twilight movie. Bella and Edward and angst! The whole time! Did you see that??

Love. love . love the outfit! Did you ever decide which pic was going to be the X-mas one? Or am I dumb and missed that post?

Oh no- I'm sorry to hear about the wreath. Those are the moments you just want to scream out loud. :O

But the shoes are darling {the dress, too}, girl! I LOVE the second pair of shoes- omg $11? Lucky. Duck. =)

I am so sorry that your day was so bad! I can relate to the built in bra dilemma. They might be great for smaller busted women but for the bigger girls its not so flattering. (Haha! I just made a pun! And its still early in the morning, today might be a good day for me!)

I am coveting your shoes with the bow. I so wish that 1) I had my very own pair and 2) I had somewhere to wear said gorgeous shoes.

Hope your day gets fantastically better!

OH no! I am so sorry about your wreath! I know that must have been super frustrating.

The good news is that your shoes for this weekend are ADORABLE. I love them!!!

i liked the target dress in the picture... but to be honest... i think i saw this same one in the store last night and wasn't crazy about it on the rack... no pun intended!! lol ~ although it could be a different dress.

BUT... i so LOVE the dress you did get!! wow. what a great dress!! AND the shoes!! both are great!! i love the first pair a little more... but $11!! what?? wow. great buy!! i love buying shoes... i used to have quite a collection... but that has died since i have three kids now... ugh. who would think they would need shoes?? just kidding... one day i will have another shoe collection and purse collection too. :) yippee. anyway... i'm rambling...

That totally SUCKS about your wreath ... damn. i would have been so upset/sad and PISSED!! damn glue gun. i think you need to threaten to cut the cord if it doesn't stop acting up... burns and messing up your project... NOT COOL!!

enjoy the show that you are wearing your HOTT new dress and SHOES to!!

First of all...I'm sorry you had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day (btw, that is one of my fav kid's books). I'm going to suggest ridding yourself of the previously named glue gun and perhaps replacing it with a newer, friendlier one...who wouldn't have any ill feelings towards you.

Just a thought.

On a happier note, the LBD is really cute and your TWO new pairs of shoes are adorable! You'll look fabulous while watching the Nutcracker☺

Hope today is a better day! It's Friday, so that's an automatic bump up.

I'm having one of those days too but mine has to deal with a very mean police officer and a ticket. I hope your weekend gets better! Cute outfit! Perfect for the holidays.

um, I think someone needs to intervene and take that hot glue gun away from you!!!- I think your days are numbered :)

I LOVE the $11 shoes!

Did you take a picture? An after shot might just make you giggle in the end. Ok, maybe not but it would be a great story starter at Christmas.

I know what you mean about the Uniboob. I hate the Uniboob. It doesn't pay to have boobage because you can't wear real clothes.

I feel your pain.

Andrea, To answer your question about the toffee. Yes, I heat the toffee on high so it will boil and get hot enough.

I have the opposite problem. I'm a big girl with no boobs. All the shirts/dresses I get to fit me elsewhere fall off of my shoulders or dip WAY too low. I have no boob-age to hold anything up decently. It's right sad.

WOW...time to rewind that day and start from the top...if only. However, I LOVE the dress and shoes you chose. Be sure to snap a couple of pix for us. : )

Wow. That sounds dreadful. I hate it when tools gang up on you--especially ones like hot glue guns! Cute shoes too! Man, I wish I could afford to buy that many, haha...oh the woes of a college student.

Great blog!

Ugh I hate it when dresses (or clothes in general) are that mean to you!

Our ship's Christmas party is in a couple of days - and apparently dress is "Sunday dress" - as in the guys don't even have to wear a tie. I'm going to make Chris though. I will probably end up wearing slacks and a sweater with big jewelry - though I admit I'm tempted to wear the green polka dotted number I wore to the OCS dinner! haha

Ooooh, I love the first pair of shoes! I have the solid black, flat version of them, I didn't know they came in heels too!!

Ugghh I have totally had those shopping days!!! I hate shopping for clothes cause I am impatient! I don't like to try on a million different things in some tiny ass dressing room just to leave with a shirt LOL! It is times like these that I am thankful my friend Channa would go with me! She kept me sane and found the cutest stuff!
As for your hot Glue gun I think you should tell it to straighten up or you are going to ship it out LOL!! And invest in one of those hot/cold glue guns! You know the ones that can't burn you!! But your boo wreath was so cute! I can't wait to take a look at your peppermint wreath! It sounds super cute!!!
